But why God?

The biggest question in our new walk with God and the answers.

Before I could even get close to God, I would ask, "Why do bad things happen, God? Why are people suffering? Why are young people dying? Why are there wars, God? Why aren't you doing anything, God?". Recently, I learned I was looking in the wrong places.

In Isaiah Chapter 57:1, it says, "The righteous perish,

and no one takes it to heart;

the devout are taken away,

and no one understands

that the righteous are taken away

to be spared from evil.

2 Those who walk uprightly

enter into peace;

they find rest as they lie in death."

When good people die before they live whole lives, we may wonder why. Does God even care? Those who trust in God through their faith in Jesus have an assurance of eternal life with him. They are the only ones who rest in peace. God knows everyone by their life situation and every hair on their head. Sometimes, he allows death to come as a protection against something worse. No end is meaningless in his eyes. Jesus even mourned when Lazarus passed away (John 11:35), wept when our physical body passed, and cried joyfully when we had eternal life with him.

Now remember, in the beginning, on the 6th day of creating the world, God made man in his image (Genesis Chapter 1:27). So, therefore, there were no sins. The one rule that God had for us is to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:17). When God created Eve, the devil convinced her to eat from that tree, and we learned good and evil. This means our eyes were open to sin at this point. We then had the desire of free will and knew sin. So, because of free will, we now have a corrupt world and a cycle of bad things happening. This was not God's doing. This is between the devil and humans. Satan walks the earth to this very day. We see much of what satan says about wandering the world in Job. His first statement in Job was when God asked him, "Where have you come from?" and Satan replies, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it." (Job 1:7). So therefore, because satan walks the earth there will always be some destruction on earth. We will always have evil and sin until the day God comes back to redeem us.

So you're asking, "What does this have to do with my journey with God and mental health?" Well, to know how to have faith in God's plan for you and trust in his eternal love for us. We need to know the basic answers to our questions. We must understand why there is even mental illness, addiction, anxiety, and depression. We have these issues in life because the devil is attacking us, and we were given free will, causing a corrupt world, leading us not to control our minds. Instead, we let the devil and demons control our minds.

Instead of asking "why?", I encourage you to ask him "how?" "How can I trust in your plan, God?" Turning your mentality towards trusting the Lord will take so much weight off your shoulders. He also has all of the answers. Would you happen to know where to look for these answers? It is only in one place. The answers are written in front of you. They are all in the bible. All you have to do is pick it up and start reading from there.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
